Vegan Sweets Found!
Whether for health or ethical reasons, being a vegan can be very difficult, especially if you have a sweet tooth. I’m only lactose free, and that’s hard enough. As time goes on, finding gluten free, dairy free, and vegan foods has become way easier, but I still struggle with finding bakery treats and ice cream that don’t taste processed. I’ve had some success in finding the occasional vegan ice cream scoop that tastes authentic enough, or the chocolate chip banana bread that tastes like the buttery original, so I want to share with you all my top picks.
- Beaming – This place is all around healthy, and everything is vegan, dairy free, gluten free, mostly raw, and preservative free. Found all over Southern California, the smoothies range from sweet to spicy, and all of them have different benefits. If you want something heavier, and more like ice cream, order an açai bowl. Beaming makes it with non-GMO açai and Beaming Protein, and tops it with granola, honey, and fresh fruit. They do sell juices and milks too, but that seems off the “dessert” topic. If you’re a pudding kind of person, you can find Chia Pudding ranging in different flavors seasonally. I’m personally a big fan of chia pudding, but some people argue that it looks like baby food. The baked goods are delectable and I’m dying to try The Beaming Gelato Cookie Sandwich.
- BabyCakes – All of it’s products are gluten free, vegan, and kosher. The bakery doesn’t only sell cakes and cupcakes. The menu includes donuts, loaves (banana chocolate chip!), cookies, crumb cake, muffins, cinnamon buns, and brownies. With locations in LA, NYC, and Orlando you shouldn’t have a problem finding the nearest one and hopping on a plane just to devour a brownie cupcake with mint frosting.
- Sprinkles – This famous chain has done well in supplying options for those with food allergies. Now a national name, the locations offer gluten free, sugar free, or vegan red velvet cupcakes. Sprinkles Ice Cream also offers blood orange sorbet and strawberry sorbet.
